It has been three weeks since she has done any real work. “Real work”, I say that almost sarcastically. By work, I really mean just getting Creator really excited about random things she finds interesting and hoping Left Headquarters will take the job and actually write. C.J. just thinks about weird new worlds and sad things to mess with people but I would hardly count that as artistic. I, on the other hand, am an actual artist. I can read and write music, which is already more work than reading and writing words. I also listen and make Left Headquarters produce sounds with Creator’s mouth but also with a golden brown thing she likes to play with her fingers. I work almost every single day and even got promoted to Chief Creativity Officer here in Right Headquarters. That really just means that I get to judge everyone else’s ideas and decide whether Creator gets to think them or not.

“What’s up, Carlos?” She opens her mouth after speaking and takes in air very loud and then lets it out again. It’s like breathing in slow motion and looks very dumb but for some reason I always seem to copy her.

“About time you got to work. Creator has been border line depressed while you slept. You know it’s been almost a month since she wrote that story right? Even Ciel has gotten to work! And you know Ciel is only an intern so you better have a good excuse.” I take a sip of B-Juice and put Auditory Thoughts on shuffle.

C.J. rolls her eyes at me, “It’s not my fault there’s nothing interesting to read. Creator is in college. You know, that boring place with a bunch of left work? I don’t see why I have to do busy work if there is really nothing to do. Besides, Creator really likes me and is happy with my work. I produce quality, not quantity, a trait only real artists would understand.”

Her last comment is accompanied by a smirk. I can only glare at her and put her on Vision Cruiser; the only place she ever seems to be productive. As I head back to Auditory Thoughts, I see a flashing light in my office.

CREATIVE SUBMISSION FROM VISION CRUISER: LOVE STORY BETWEEN BURGER BOY AND PIZZA BOY

I shake my head and click deny. I usually approve of C.J.’s writing prompts but I know this one is a bad decision. Love? That’s the only subject everyone could agree on. It was terrible.

CREATIVE SUBMISSION FROM VISION CRUISER: LOVE STORY BETWEEN CREATOR’S TWO BEST FRIENDS

I cannot believe what I am reading. I quickly click deny again but before I can even begin to walk away from the monitor, a new submission appears. I turn towards Vision Cruiser and see C.J. twirling her dyed blue hair as she watches Outside and types submissions. My feet carry me faster than a bullet and make a loud thump when I stand right before the culprit.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“My job…” C.J. waves her hand dismissively and continues to type submissions.

“You know I’m not going to approve any of this right?” I continue to stand before her and try to cover as much of Outside as possible. She doesn’t seem to be very happy with this.

“What’s your problem, Carlos? I am trying to make Creator a better person!”

“By prompting her to write her worst genre? Yeah right, why don’t you just try to make her a better writer at what she’s already good at?” C.J. doesn’t seem to agree with me on this. I shake my head and begin to walk back to Auditory Thoughts when a ding interrupts my walk.

C.J. is standing in my office, her small manicured hands click the accept button many times before I can slap them away.

“How DARE you do that?! C.J. you really stepped out of line this time!” I feel like smoke is going to come out of my ears from how foggy my glasses are getting. C.J. only shrugs and steps away as she massages her hand.

“Creator talked to me. She wants to try to write love. You know, creativity is about trying.”

I laugh at her pathetic excuse. Everyone knows Creator doesn’t actually know of our existence and “trying” was something lefts did, not rights. Rights only think and imagine.

“I know you and everyone else thinks it is impossible but that is not true. Creator is aware of her flaws and is actively trying to get better. She has bookmarked love stories and watches Rom-Coms with her wife. She said their relationship is making romance look less scary in print and wants to write about love!” This is the first time C.J. actually looks angry at something besides a bad book ending. I head over to Vision Cruiser and see Outside. Creator seems to be focusing on couples consuming food together at the banquet. I can see a few heart doodles in her notebook and can hear Happy Together playing from Auditory Thoughts.

“It does not prove that Creator can talk to you, OK? This is probably just because it’s almost Valentine’s Day. I’m sure Creator will be much happier if you submit a prompt about –” I lose my voice as I see a submission flash across my screen. I cannot believe the words I am reading.
